Every woman goes through a fanatic phase of buying a certain type
of something.
Heck, i know i did.
For lots of things.
Way too many things.
Bags, amongst one of them.

I say if you nod yes to more than half of the below, you have a problem. Like me.
You’re a bagaholic when:
#1. Any reason, is a reason to buy a bag.
i.e. SALE.
i.e. fairies on advertising campaign
i.e. WHAT IF I DECIDE TO COME BACK AND IT’S GONE
i.e. i don’t have a bag like that in particular pattern/colour/style
i.e. you just got your paycheck
i.e. it’s your birthday
i.e. it’s your dog’s birthday
i.e. SALE
i.e. SALE

#2. You own more handbags than you actually use.
I have rows of handbags + clutches in my room.
Half of which i’ve barely used, and when i do, get questions like:
Ash: Oh, nice bag!
Me: Thanks!
Ash: When did you get it?
Me: Er, had it for damn long
already la.
Ash: Never see you use also ![]()

#3. You apply the 5-second rule for a dropped clutch.
You know the 5-second rule?
Where if you drop something edible on the floor,
as long as you pick it up within 5 seconds, it’s still okay to eat it.
I thought it was a bit stupid but it seemed to work with bags
Like the less time it spent on the floor,
the less horrid dirt it’d pick up,
the less pain my poor bag would feel
>_<

#4. You’re comforted by a bag at point of trauma.
StephTheVolcano still remembers with disbelief how i hugged my
newly-bought Anya Hindmarch right after i was a target for snatch theft,
and was sitting on the sidewalk in tears and blood.
She told quite a few friends about it too >.<
“I can’t believe how all you cared about was your bag!”
“Hey… i just bought it the day
before okay… and i had money and stuff in it.”
“She was like,” *turns to
friends* ” ‘oh thank god they didn’t get my bag hahaha‘
and hugging it.
“
“:p”

#5. You ask people whether you can touch their bag.
Okay, so i shamelessly admitted i’ve done this a few times.
Back in college when i could never think of even affording such
a bag,
i once asked Dorcas whether i could hold her Murakami x LV
to look at in reverence for ten seconds outside Atmosphere :p
(i don’t care whether some of you
think it’s ugly, i really liked the white one!
‘Twas so pop art awesome!)
#6. You sacrifice proper meals for that one bag.
Okay, this one, i haven’t personally done (cos food take precedence over bags for me)
But I HAVE HEARD many girls who say they bought one bag,
and ended up having to eat maggie mee / toast for the rest of the month.
Seriously. Siao or what!

#7. You’d rather carry a nice bag than wear decent clothes.
“You can dress as shitty as
you want as long as you have your Chanel handbag.”
- Kanchiny R.
I learnt that line from QueenKanch. To the point it was a post title back in 2007.
Also remember her saying that it’s okay to wear pajamas out as long as
you have a nice designer bag on your arm ![]()

#8. Your family members comment on it.
Me: Does this match better, or
this one?
NickIsTaller: Maybe if you don’t
have so many bags, it’d be easier to choose ![]()
Daddy: You’d better go arrange
your bags properly.
Me: Huh? What’s wrong with them?
Daddy: What’s wrong? Have you seen
how precarious they look on your shelf? One day they’re going to fall on
your while you’re sleeping!
+ + + + +
So how many could you relate to?

I am proud to say, that of recent,
i’ve been very angelic with my bagaholism.
I try to keep away from stores,
cos not looking, is also not buying impulsively.
Then a bigger obstacle hit – online shopping.
During this time, i stumbled onto Reebonz
while working for TIC.
A bag and accessories website.
Selling authentic designer goods at a cheaper price.
Just pay by cc or paypal.
Justifying to myself that this was for ‘work research’,
i signed up some time last year,
and have been constantly checking the website as they update new
‘events’ with items for sale every 2-3 days.
I even joined some contest they had last year
(and i almost never join contests >.<)
Not to mention…
the sale part [Ref. #1 on list above] was ridonculous!
Bottega Veneta, Burberry, Balenciaga,
Tods, Prada, Gucci, Miu Miu,
Coach, Kate Spade, Givenchy, Lanvin…
25%, 40%, 80% off?!
Yau mo….
(i don’t speak chinese, but
sometimes these phrases pop into my head proving my chinese-ness
)
And not only that, but Reebonz is not charging Malaysians shipping or
taxes right now!
So you get to save even MORE $!
There are a couple of ongoing contests on Reebonz
right now
which methinks other bagaholics like me (recovering or not) will
appreciate.
#1 – Win a Balenciaga Holiday First bag!
[click for larger view]
All you have to do is to successfully invite 6 friends to be a Reebonz member,
and you’re in the running (to be
randomly selected) to win a Balenciaga Holiday First bag (worth RM5,110)
Even if you don’t win the bag, you still get 5% off your next purchase!
Contest ends: April 30th 2010
For more, click *here*
#2 – Get RM233 (SGD100) off your next purchase!
If you’ve bought something from Reebonz
before,
just take a style shot of
yourself with your purchase + description of personal
style or your thoughts on your purchase.
Every week, they’ll post all entries on the Reebonz blog,
and at the end of every month,
3 favourite entries will get RM233 off their next purchase!
[click for larger view]
I know, both contests require you to be a member,
and most of my friends already are
(first person i invited to join was
QueenKanch,
turns out she was already a member. Surela -_-)
If you want to be a member,
just click on to www.reebonz.com/invite_code/kinky
and enter my invite code at www.reebonz.com
to sign up
(it’s quite fast la, don’t have to
answer a lot of silly questions or anything)
Invite code: kinky
You then can get access to view upcoming and current ‘events’.
At least i know what’s out there, even tho i ‘plan’ not to buy one.

Hi joyce, you cant believe how many times i have nodded my head whilst reading through your posts.the bags you have posted in ur post are godsend. I been going gaga over the mulberry bag either oak or ink blue. too bad, my wallet wud go blue if i decided to splurge. anyhow, joyce, great post. truly.
you’re a BAG-a-holic
LOL! sama sama bagaholic lah!
Bag-a-holic was here…
There’s ONE more big sign that most females of the species ignore –
#9 – They all use the word “invest” when buying a bag
- this sounds absolutely BONKERS to the (hetero/non-metro) males of the species
- how many bags priced below RM50,000 actually appreciate in value over the years, besides in that brief “in demand” period where it’s the “it” bag before being replaced by another “it” bag?
STOP USING THE WORD “INVEST”!! IT’s BEING BRAINWASHED INTO YOU BY EVIL MEDIA!!!
